Atkins taking it easy
Rockies third baseman Garrett Atkins took batting practice Friday but was not in the starting lineup for the game against the Giants. Atkins said he aggravated his right hip flexor two days ago. The original injury cost him two days earlier this spring, and he will be given a few days to recover from the latest flare-up.
“I’m OK, I’m just taking it easy,” Atkins said. “It doesn’t hurt to hit, but it affects me when I’m running and going side-to-side.”
